Thomas W. Henderson, MA
Responsible for the direct support of local physicians, Tom serves as contact for local physicians with regards to legal issues, continuing education, staff training, and political issues. He works as the ICMS liaison with the California Medical Association and as member of the CMA Medical Executives Committee. He also provides political education resources, and arranges direct and indirect contact with political leaders on issues of importance to the local medical community.
Born in South Carolina, he lived in a variety of geographic locations from Madrid, Spain to Oceanside California, as well as Hampton, New Hampshire. Enlisting in the Army in 1966, Tom was subsequently accepted into Infantry Officer Candidate School, where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1969. Subsequent to serving as an infantry platoon leader in Vietnam, Tom transferred back into his original branch of Air Defense Artillery. He later commanded a nuclear capable Nike Hercules missile site in Opa Locka, Florida.
Tom left the army to pursue a teaching career, receiving his BA in History, followed by an MA in Counseling. He put those to good use as a teacher and writer, until his retirement in 2007 from teaching. During those years Tom also served on the El Centro Personnel Appeals Board, as a Family Court Mediator, and as an instructor of Educational Technology for San Diego State University, Calexico.
